Show 3751 Stone- D 1772 Q Wasn't there some other prospector that had a boiler or some other equipment down there? A I believe there was something of that nature down near Hall's crossing; I am not certain. Q All of Stanton's supplies were brought in overland? A Yes sir. Q None of them ever came down the river in boats? A Not that I know of, sir. Q Or up the river in boats? A No, I think not. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q So for as you know? A So far as I know, yes sir. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q This boat of Stanton's that you refer to as coming up from Lees Ferry, did you see that boat come up? A I saw it after it got up, yes sir. Q You didn't see the progress it made up stream? A No, but I understood it had come up from Lees Ferry. Q As nearly as I recall, the boats were about eighteen or twenty feet long, rather heavily constructed, and propelled by cars. Q Have you ever tried to take a row boat up stream in that river? |
