Show 3801 Woodbury- D 1822 opening, it will spill the water over the sandbar, and you have to wash your way through at the lower end. Q At what points on the river did you encounter the braided channels, if you did? A I think there was one above Hite, that I remember, and another one some ten or fifteen miles below Hite; they were different places; I can't recall the exact places; I remember two of them in that vicinity where the river spreads out five or six hundred feet wide. THE SPECIAL MASTER: You mean where the channel scatters over the low ground? MR. BLACKMAR: Where it goes on the low ground, as I understand, there will be several channels through there. Q Just tell about the operation of the boats through those braided channels. A Just go until you hit; shove yourself off in the water, or get overboard and lift it off, and out it to one side, in the deeper water, or over into deeper water, wash it through. Q How many different places did that occur? A Two or three, I think, perhaps four. MR. BLACKMAR: That is all, Mr. Woodbury. |
