Q Did you get horses? A No; we met the packer coming back. Mr. Chenoewith was supplied with food with a wagon that went over from Hanksville; we met his teamster as we went in; he was coming back; he said he had already left the mouth of that river. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q The Dirty Devil? A The Dirty Devil; he had left the mouth of the Dirty Devil, and had gone on down stream. We knew there was no opportunity for us to see him. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Where were the other two parties? A Mr. Trimble was in charge of the party that started at Bluff and carried his work down the San Juan river, then continued his work down the Colorado for perhaps twenty miles.
