Show 3910 Edwards- D 1931 that wrote Sweet Marie, and I think there were two others, but I don't remember their names. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q Did he write it on that trip? A They say he did. He was about as green in camp as any man I ever saw. I was cook again. We came up the Green river out to the San Rafael the first day, that is about twenty- five miles, went into camp. I got supper. Around that sand, there was more or less or it into the hot biscuit and the bacon, and do forth. I said, " Come on and get it." No, they wasn't hungry. All right. Next morning got up and got breakfast, they wouldn't touch it. About eleven o'clock they all commenced coming around, they says, " When you get dinner today, get plenty of it. We think we can eat." BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q After you crossed the Colorado river on your return trip, where did you go? A Back to Hanksville and back to Greenriver. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q This Hanksville trail must have been quite a well-traveled trail? A It was; it was the main trail from Greenriver to Dandy crossing, the only habitation on the trail. |
