Show 3902 Edwards- D 1923 A No, nothing but wood. Q How far did you go down on the second trip? A About the same place we went on the first. Q By the way, I neglected to ask you in connection with that first trip about how many days did it take you to go down and how many back? A I think it took us something over three weeks to make the round trip. Q About evenly divided between the time down and the time back? A Yes, I should judge something like that; we might have gone down a little difference in the time, but coming up against the current would overcome some of the time coming back. Q The second trip, what was the stage of the water with reference to whether or not it was higher or lower than the first? A Higher; the river had begun to rise a little. Q Comparing it with the first trip, tell me about the progress down the river. A The river was quite a little higher, but it shifted the bars so the information we tried to have on the first trip didn't do us much good on the second; had to go through all the preliminaries of finding channel on the second the same as the first. |
