Show 3894 Edwards- D 1915 We took a wagon and went from there over to Johnson; from Johnson up to the Rio Grande western Railroad, to Salt Lake, and back to Denver. Q Where is this town of Johnson with reference to Kanab, Utah? A About eight or ten miles east. Q Did you pass through Kanab in going to Johnson? A No, we just went to Johnson and went straight north up on the Sevier river. Q What kind of place was Lees Ferry at that time? A Mr. Thomas Johnson lived there on both of these trips; he had a nice little farm there, raised lots of fruit. Q Anybody else live there? A Nobody but him; there was one other man there, a man named Huntington. Q Did you notice any difference in the channel of the river through Glen canyon between your first and your second trip, as to the sandbars? Were they located in the same place? A I couldn't say as to that. Q What kind of road went from Lee's Ferry over to Johnson City? A Kind of a trail road; got over it with a spring wagon; we had a spring wagon and team. Q How far from Lees Ferry to Johnson City? A I think it is ninety miles. Q Then how far from Johnson City to the railroad? |
