A I don't know; I understand it is, but I never heard it as that. It was Crescent creek, always called Crescent creek at the time we passed down. Q Do you know how far above Hite, Utah, that Crescent creek was? A I should judge about six miles, -- five or six miles. Q Was there a wagon road into Hanksville? A Yes sir. Q The trip from Greenriver down to Hanksville, just describe the character of the country that you passed through, and the population which you could see. A There was no population between Greenriver and Hanksville at that time; it was a kind of semi- arid, dry country. I remember the second or third out we had to make a dry camp; there was no water from the time we left the San Rafael until we got to Hanksville; carried water on the wagon in barrels at that time; might have been water somewhere back, but we didn't know about it.
