Show 3792 Woodbury- D 1813 moving picture expedition. Q That is the same expedition Mr. Clark and Mr. Rodin were on? A Yes sir; I was a boat man, had one of the boats in my charge on the trip, as well as Mr. Clark and Mr. Rodin, had two of the other boats. Six boats in all. Q What type boat did you have on that expedition? A I thinks it was eighteen feet long and a few inches over, approximately eighteen feet over all; about a four or a four and a half foot cock- pit, around four to five foot beam, I couldn't tell exactly, about four and a half to five. The forward and after compartments were sealed off with water- tight bulk heads, with water- right hatches that screwed down on rubber gaskets with wing nuts to carry our baggage and cargo and radio; I had the radio boat; had everything under hatches, so if the boat tipped over it wouldn't sink, for one reason; another reason, it would keep the equipment dry. Q Were all those boats approximately the same kind? A Four of them were eighteen or a little over; two of them about sixteen; had a little sheer on the sixteen- foot boats, but the others were more or less straight along the top. |
