Show 3781 Rodin- D 1802 Q What year? A 1927. Q Do you know a point on the Green river called the mouth of the San Rafael? A I think I could recollect. Q About how far is it south from Greenriver? A I couldn't tell the mileage; I think it was about two days when we got up to there, or so. Q Do you recall how far, how much mileage you covered the first day on that expedition? A I should judge about ten miles or so, because we started at noon -- about one o'clock. Q How far did you go before you encountered any rapids or riffles? MR. FARNSWORTH; He has not said he encountered any, yet. A We didn't get in rapids considerable until we got to Cataract canyon, but we had a few riffles, close up above the junction of the Green and the Colorado. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Have any difficulty getting over those riffles? A. Well, sometimes we got stopped, you know, got grounded, and work the boat off and go down the stream again; some of them had to get cut of the boat and push. |
