Show 3778 Stone- RD 1799 dredge operated? A I think about a quarter of a day, if I remember, so it was reported to me; they started operation one day, and a flood came down and broke it loose from its moorings and took it down stream three or four miles and left it there. MR. FARNSWORTH: That is pure hearsay. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q You have no personal knowledge? A No personal knowledge of it, no sir, because I was not there at the time. MR. FARNSWORTH: I think that should go out. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Do you know anybody that is alive now that knows anything about the operation of that dredge? A I believe some gentlemen here were employed by Stanton; I think so. THE SPECIAL MASTER: I don't think it makes much difference if the dredge is now there sunk. I suppose we might assume something like that happened to it. I will strike it out if you insist. That is all, Mr. Stone. Thank you very much. |
