By looking up stream you can easily identify the sunken rocks, the rocks immediately below the surface of the water that night be dangerous if you struck them; you can't see them from above very well unless you are right on them. Then we would pick out the best channel we could, and go back and run the boats through. it could be rather foolish to go in pell mell without looking them over first. Q Do your recall how many rapids you found in Cataract canyon? A No, I do not; but I should say around forty,-- I mean, that we counted as rapids. Q And that covers how many miles?
