Show 3744 Stone- D 1756 canyon at the time you were there, and the number of men? A Mr. Stanton had a party of men in there locating placer claims and surveying them and filling on them; he attended to all that; that was done in the name of Hoskinini Company, which was the corporation which did that. Q Will you spell that name, please? A H- o- s- k- i- n- i- n- i. Q Did you have any active part in the work while in the canyon? That is, did you work, yourself? A Well, I possibly might have helped a little bit here and there, but I was engaged principally in getting acquainted with a region that was new to me. I was not an employee of Mr. Stanton. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q How many men were in there when you were there? A I suppose at one time, your Honor, there were probably twenty employed by Mr. Stanton. I say I suppose so; I couldn't tell you exactly. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Were there other prospectors in there besides Mr. Stanton and his employees? A There were some a little further down the river, -- two, I believe. Q Do you recall their names? A No, I do not; I don't know that I can, to be sure |
