Show JAN 1 4 1980 87 E Street-1880-1884 ca. married Alexander Cohn, arriving in Utah in 1878. Alexander was a pioneer merchant. He and his brother, Louis, started Cohn Dry Goods in Salt Lake, "one of the land marks in the Salt Lake business world." Jennie built-up the business after her husband's death. In about 1925 Ernie Winfield Ferris purchased the house as apartments. Up until about 1932 the house was listed as 79 E Street, and after that time, 87 E Street. Ferris was born in Salt Lake on May 27, 1887 to Franklin S. and Celestial D. Deckstader Ferris. He married Alberta Barton in Salt Lake in 1915, and lived in one of the apartments of the house until his death in 1933. Alberta continued to live there until her death in 1964. The Ferris 1 son, Jack, still owns the home. |
