It is the best Art Moderne structure in the Avenues Historic District. The building helps document the increase in multi-family housing that* began in the Avenues around the turn of the century and was particularly noticeable in the 1930's. The building was constructed in 1936 or 1937 for Charles E. Wymer, who was then a salesman for the MJB Company. He bought the land on which the building stands from the Sterling Apartment Company in 1936. They apparently had plans at one time to build an apartment on the property. |
