In the front gable is a small three-sided wooden bay window surrounded by wood shingle siding. Above the paired, square front porch columns there are heavy paired brackets in the cornice. On the east side of the house is an unusual two-story bay window. It has a gable roof with a full pediment. Its upper walls have heavy stick style framing, while the lower walls are brick. Next to it is a rectangular first story wooden bay window. There are also side dormer windows and a stone belt course runs around the house below the first floor windows. Wilcox was a physician and surgeon. Wilcox was born in Salt Lake City to Walter and Maria Richards Wilcox on April 28, 1865. He graduated from the New York University Medical School in 1893 and practiced in Nephi before he moved to Salt Lake in 1903. He worked as a doctor in Salt Lake for 35 years. He died here in this home in 1936. After Wilcox's death, his widow, Florence Burton Wilcox, continued to live in the house until she died in 1944. She was born May 8, 1884, in Salt Lake to General Robert T. and Maria Haven Burton. She married Dr. Wilcox in 1895. Florence was an active member of the LDS Church and a charter member of the Shakespeare Club. Lynn W. Raybould, an engineer at the Clearfield Naval Base, has owned the house since 1946. He lived in the house in 1079. His wife's name is Helen. |
