Show PRESIDENrS MESSAGE The LWV has been a great gathering place and training ground for talented, brave, skilled and caring women. Women who consistently perform at the most unusual level of excellence. Women like Irene Fisher who was our President and board member years ago. She has been picking up honors and awards from the rest of the community ever since. The latest one is AAUW's "Distinguished Service Award." We are very proud of our association with her. Proud, too, are we of Gigi Brandt who arranged for a first rate briefing on the dropout problem. I feel that such briefings should be made available to our general membership. We may experiment with the concept of moving the time and place of such meetings so more people can be involved. The Tribune reporter, Peter Scarlet, who was there, did a fine job of reporting the essence of that meeting. Thanks to Mike Murphy, Nancy Hardy and Jim Anderson, the panelists who helped bring a fuller understanding of the problem of students who are at risk of dropping out. It is Utah LWV convention time. Salt Lake has a few more delegate slots to fill. I would like very much to hear from those of you who might like to represent Salt Lake. You will not need to be prepared to do anything but attend a strategy meeting on April 10th and be present at the convention Friday night and Saturday in Park City on . April 14th and 15th. You can stay in a hotel Friday night or drive back and forth in a car pool. Don't be shy, call mel This event will be fun and an opportunity to meet energetic women and men from all over the state. You can also pick up a few pointers on the convention system works. The new board will be organizing itself in the next few months. I am expecting great things from them. Please help us if you can. We will be calling you.
