This entails a pre-session Lobbying Workshop to be held on Wednesday, January 6th; an organized Lobby Corps of League members who will be at the Legislature most days and readily identifiable by the League scarf they are wearing; and the Lobbyist for the Day Program in which individual League members spend the day at the legislature observing and learning the process with a Lobby Corps member. If the funding is obtained, the League maybe able to have a paid lobb)ist who would coordinate the efforts of our members and make the Lobbyist for the Day program available to citizens from other organizations as a communitYsenice. ; The Lobbying \Vorkshop is from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm on \Vednesday, January 6th. LWV, Common Cause, American Association of Retired Persons, and Junior League are sponsoring and planning it together. There will be a slide presentation put together by Common Cause which is a real bow to'' for Lobbying in the Utah Legislature. A panel of Legislators will discuss their responses to types of lobb)'ing and repond to questions. Two or more experienced lobbyists. both volunteer and paid, will offer ad,ice. Gigi Brandt) a long time League lobbyist has assisted in planning this. It will be held in the Auditorium of the State Office Building, the large building just to the north of the State Capitol. There will not be a League Day at the Legislature this year because oftbe otherpla.ns. but there will be weekly League Caucuses on Thursdays at noon during the Legislative Session. Call the office for location.. Your participation is needed. We urge you to be responsive to the call to contact your legislators on specific issues. It will be held in a room of the Capitol Cafetena (between the State Capitol and the State Office Building) from 12: 15 to 1: 15 pm. Martha Bramlett has arranged for informed League members to re\'iew the issues involved in the potential legislation. relative to League positions. She will review the prefiled bills. This session will also serve as the BRIEFING for the Salt Lake Unit discussion leaders for the January Unit meetings on Legislative issues. There will be a mailing of the League's Fact Sheet on Issues and Legislative Newsletter just pri~rto the meeting, which will provide additional matenal for use at unit meeti~s.
