A It was right on the river. Q What is it? A It was right along the river. Q Right along the San Juan? A Yes. We waded up and down the river and set out traps; had to stay off the bank to catch the beaver. Q How many different winters did you spend down there? A Just that one, down that low. Q What was the condition of that river that winter as to whether there was a lot of water in it? A You could wade it anywhere. Q Beg pardon? A You could wade it most anywhere. Q And did you wade it? A I did, back and forth, to set traps. Q Mr. Wetherill, who was with you on that expedition? A My brother; he is dead. Q Did both of you wade it? A Sure. |
