Show 3605 Wetherill- C 1627 THE SPECIAL MASTER: Call it Smith creek. MR. FARNSWORTH: Where was " Smith" with respect to Nokai? A Where was -- Q It has been suggested we call that place " Smith" that place we can't spell. A That was Nokai canyon; that is the canyon that comes in below, the second canyon below. Q Below what? A Below the Adudgii -- " Smith" canyon. Q Now, there were two places, then, that you made a survey for this lost mine, Smith canyon and Nokai? A No; " Smith" canyon -- I referred to Nokai Conskedi (?) in that district, we went to Nokai Conskedi (?) and from there to Adudgii -- " Smith" canyon. Q Did you go in " Smith" canyon clear down to the river, the San Juan river? A We were at the river, at the mouth of Copper on the San Juan, and at the Mule Ears, near the mouth of Chinle. Q Above or below Chinle? A Below Chinle, just below, one crossing was just below. Q So that on that expedition you touched the San Juan river at two points? A That far down, yes; we had crossed it way above. |
