In describing the boats you stated that they had to be decked over in places to prevent them being filled with water; that on several occasions they were so filled with water. At what portions of the river did that occur? A Well, that occurred, wherever there were rapids apt to occur; depended on what kind of waves you struck, just the way you happened to take a rapid. Q Nave you any recollection on as to what parts of the river your boats filled with water? A Along Red canyon - Q I mean below Greenriver, Utah. A Below Greenriver, Utah? Q If at all. A In Cataract canyon, of course all through there you were liable to get full of water whenever you ran a rapid. Q Anywhere else? A No, only in Cataract canyon -- well, that little rapid in Glen canyon, you might ship some water there, but not bad. Q You don't recall whether you did or not?
