Show 3589 Wetherill- D 1611 A In the canyon -- it is canyoned up from Bluff except where it breaks a ridge of mountains and leaves an opening; it canyoned up, and those canyons are cropping off more or less all the time, and when they drop into the river it leaves a big the time, and when they drop into the river creates almost an impassable barrier at time. There is rapids at the mouth of Piute canyon. They are the only ones that are of any extent in there. These other just backs up the water and piles the rock in it. Q What kind of boat is this you have seen down on the Colorado river? A On the Colorado? Q Yes. A The boat that Turner was using -- he had placer mines down the river fifteen or twenty miles below; he had about a twenty- four foot boat with a motor, and he had a sail on to help him back up the river.
