Show 3555 1577 66 Dellenbaugh- C day, how much mileage you made a day? A It varied, of course, according to circumstances; that is tax-ing my memory a lot, to tell the time we were in Labyrinth; : should not think it was more than five or six days in Labyrinth, cutting out the stops for observation. Q That would include the stops for observation? A No, that would not, probably. Q What distance do you allow for Labyrinth canyon? A I don't remember the length of that now; it is stated in the book; I think it was about thirty of thirty- five miles, something like that; Labyrinth winds a great deal; that is why there were sandbars in there. Q Mr. Dellenbaugh, I don't want to make time to refer to the various places in the book receding 114, where you give the mileage and speak about the nature of the journey, but do you wish to be understood now as intimating that you spent most of your time on sandbars, or anything of that kind? A No. Q That is, through Labyrinth canyon; when you say, as I think you did, in answer to a question which used the word " occasionally", that you occasionally came upon sandbars, with what frequency would you get on a sandbar? A I sould only say I should change the word " occasionally" to " frequently". Q What do you mean by " frequently" A Say every hour or so. |
