Show 3634 W. Wetherill- D 1656 Q About how many months did you spend down there? A About six weeks. Q Do you recall what year that was? A It was the year after the St. Louis fair; that would be 1904. Q I think that is right, 1904. Have you ever seen the river up there in the neighborhood of Farmington when it was dry, or nearly dry? A Yes. Q And do you recall what year that was? A That was in 1900 or 1901; absolutely no water in it; just a dry wash, that's all you could call it then. Q Did you cross it from time to time? A Yes, during the summer; I was running a store out south of the winter. Q In your experience with that river, have you ever seen any boats on it? A Nothing but ferry boats. Q Did you ever see anybody travel up and down the river? A No. Q Mr. Wetherill, at what points on the river have you seen these sand waves? A Right where the water will come down and strike a ledge, then it will turn the water towards the center of the river; the water will be higher in the center than it will be |
