Mr. Dodge, Mr. Roden, Mr. Samoff, Mr. Dean, Mr. Woodbury. Did I name Mr. Barker? Q Yes. A There was an army sergeant, I can't recall his name, and myself. I believe that was all. Q What was the purpose of this expedition? A It was taking moving pictures of the canyon. Q What was your particular connection with the party? A I was one of the boatmen of the party. Q What equipment did you have in the way of boats? A We had six boats, what they call the Colorado river type boats. Four of them eighteen- foot over all, about five foot beam, about twenty- four inches freeboard; they were covered over water- tight, forward and aft, with an open pit in the center for the oarsman. There was two of them sixteen- foot type boat; four of them were eighteen- foot type. Q All of the boats, as I understand it, has those Covered hatches, do you call them? |
