Show 3499 1521 10 Dellenbaugh- D Then the next canyon is Whirlpool, which is not so bad, but has some lively rapids in it. Then you come out into the Uintah Basin, which has more shoals -- you come out into Brown's Park first -- has some shoals, but is easy going. I got that turned around. You enter Lodore at the foot of Brown's Park; then after Lodore and a while below, you come out into the Uintah Basin; that is comparatively going for about thirty miles or so; then you enter the canyon of Desolation; that is about ninety- seven to one hundred miles or very rapid descent, rapids and shoal water at low water. And after Desolation canyon is Gray canyon, which is a short canyon, about twenty or thirty miles long, has a few rapids in it. Then you go to Gunnison Crossing. That is where Greenriver, Utah, now is. So above Gunnison Crossing you have a number of very severe rapids up to Green River, Wyoming; in fact, the river tumbles down with great ferocity, you might say, in many places.
