Q While residing at Mancos, Colorado, did you have occasion to spend any length of time in Utah? A I was there occasionally; we were working in the ruins along the San Juan river, and that section, for the Chicago world's Fair in 1892, and we out in that winter of 1892 and 1893, 1893 and 1894, and at various times we were in there working along the river. Q Where were those ruins located? A They were located in a gulch up Chinle wash, in White canyon, in Moki ( Nokai) canyon and McElmo. Q Any of those ruins on the San Juan river itself? A There is ruins right along the San Juan, right there near Bluff. Q Did you do any work in those during that year? A Yes. Q Those ruins are how near to Bluff? A There is ruins beginning right at Bluff and on both sides of the river. Q Extending how far? |
