A Got some from Mancos, Colorado, some from Gallup, New Mexico, and some from Durango, Colorado. Q While you were running that trading post you had no occasion to be on the San Juan river, did you? A We were hauling timber for a house there along the river, from the San Juan river. Q Did you do the hauling yourself? A No, I had a man driving the team; I was there numerous times in that time. Q When you say " along the San Juan", how close to the San Juan did you get your timber? A Drove right to the San Juan. Q Then between that time and date you have had occasion at intervals to cross the San Juan, have you? A Oh, yes. Q You never were on it in a boat except a ferry boat, except to ferry across? |
