Show 3585 Wetherill- D 1607 A I have made them at Lees Ferry, the mouth of Red canyon, and Hite are the places I usually crossed, Hite, the mouth of Red canyon, and Lees Ferry. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q Hite is right opposite White canyon, is it? A Yes. Q That is the place you speak of as coming down this year from? A Yes. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Which one of these place is also know as Dandy crossing? A Hite. The actual crossing is about eight miles above -- five miles above where the White canyon comes in, where the old Dandy crossing ferry used to be. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q When was there a ferry there? A Along about 1881 or 1882 -- from 1879 to 1881 or 1882. It was used by that outlaw band that was in there; then the Mormons used it in crossing into Bluff in 1880, I believe. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Have you ever crossed on this ferry?
