Show 3566 1588 77 Dellenbaugh- C Q Do you know how they got there? A I persuaded his widow to deposit them there -- I deposited them there myself, with the consent of his widow. Q Do you know whether those are the field notes of that expedition? A He always said they were, and I judge they are; they were pretty well battered; they seemed to be authentic. In fact, I am sure they are. MR. FARNSWORTH: Of course the witness can not be sure. I will say to counsel, since Mr. Dellenbaugh got them in the manner he did get them, we will not raise any question about their not being authentic. THE WITNESS: They must be authentic. I was trying to be explicit in this matter. MR. FARNSWORTH: I think probably they are. MR. BLACKMAR: Mr. Dellenbaugh, I believe that is all. RECROSS EXAMINATION BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q Major Powell had only one arm, didn't he? A One arm, yes sir. |
