Q What was the purpose in going down into the Colorado river? A Acting as guide. Q Taking prospectors or others? A No, taking parties, usually form the East, who wanted to see the country. Q Where would these parties start from, what point would you pick them up? A I have picked them up at many points; sometimes the Grand Canyon, sometimes Tuba, sometimes Mancos, Colorado, some-times Bluff, Utah, sometimes Gallup, New Mexico, sometimes Flagstaff, Arizona. The last party I took through was from Blanding; I went along the Colorado for fifty or sixty miles in May and June this year. Q What section of the Colorado did you cover? A From the mouth of the San Juan to White canyon. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q The south side of the river? A Followed the rim above the river. Q On the south or the north? |
