It was winter, and snowing; we camped at Glendale; the snow was so heavy, we went on up the Long valley the next day, and found ourselves on top of the divide, in a heavy snowstorm. Neither of us had been that particular road before, so we didn't know where to go. We went down into a valley and camped there; the next morning we went on down this valley and found we were on the right road; we found a ranch down there owned by a man named Asa; we got some ham and egge and coffee, and went on down the Sevier to Fanguitch, and on down to Salt Lake City; the snow getting lighter all the time.
