Show 3663 Hyde- D 1685 of my freighting was hauling oil rigs and tools and supplies to the oil field there near Mexican Hat. Q That came along after the placer mining? A Yes, that came after. Q The placer mining down there was in the early ' 90' s? A Yes sir. Q The freight you sent in to the placer mines, or know about, how was it taken in? A By team and wagon. Q Do you know of any of these placer mines having been supplied by boat? A I do not; I don't think there ever was. THE SPECIAL MASTER: Strike that out. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Have you ever seen any boats on the San Juan river? A Nothing, only ferry boats. Q At what point did you see those ferry boats? A Well, at Bluff, we had small skiffs there where they ferried Indians over the river; Indians would come there to trade. Also at the mouth of the Comb wash. In fact, I run a ferry there myself. And up at the mouth of Elmo, another place they had ferry boats and ferried Indians across, -- was about all the boats I have seen used there, that I remember of. |
