We had pack mules and horses; we cached the boats for the winter, then we packed our things on these mules and went out by way of Houserock springs across the Kaibab to Kanab. You follow around cliffs, the base of the cliffs, the Trumble cliffs, until you get about Houserock springs, then you strike northwesterly and cross the Kaibab plateau and come down into valley which they now call Prisoner valley, and strike across that wide valley to Kanab; we made our headquarters there. We went to Eight- mile first, then finally to Kanab, and made headquarters there for the rest of that season, and all the rest of the next season; we made headquarters there for a long time. Q.
