Show 3607 Wetherill- C 1629 mine? A Yes. Q Now, in 1902 what part of the San Juan country in Utah did you go to? A We came down the river from Anarth, the mouth of McElmo, to Bluff, and from Bluff went down the river and crossed at the Mules Ears; that was a prospecting trip; went in there about the same line I had done before. Q In traveling down the San Juan river between the points you have indicated, did you follow close to the river, at all? A In that case, yes. Q How close to the river A Sometime -- one or two places we had to hold the wagon -- our buggy-- on to the grade to keep from tipping over into the river. Q For what stretches would that be? A For a couple hundred yards. Q Most of the time you were out of sight of the river, weren't you? A Most of the time we were in sight of the river. Q You were where you could see some part of the river? A Yes, right along the river bed, except where it was up on a little grade on the side. Q You didn't go into the river at all on that trip? A Yes, we crossed it. |
