Show 3632 W. Wetherill- D 1654 A Not on the river, but along the bank, because no way to travel up and down the river. THE SPECIAL MASTER: Strike the last part of that out. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q How far down the river do you have any knowledge of it, how far down the San Juan? A I have been way down to where it canyons up, sixty or seventy miles below Bluff. Q Have you been as far as Navajo mountain? A Yes, right to the foot of it. Q How did you get down there? A Pack outfit. Q And from where did you pack? A That trip went out at Mancos. Q Have you ever run any cattle in the San Juan country? A Up around Farmington, yes. Q What were you doing down on the river below Bluff? A That winter I went down in there trapping for beaver. Q Did that work take you down into the canyon? A It took me right along the river bank, where it was more open, because right in the canyon wasn't no feed for beaver. Q Just what sections of the river did you pursue on this occasion of beaver trapping? |
