About what point was the on the river? A. Oh, that was way above the canyoning of the river, above Flaming Gorge, not more than thirty or forty miles below GreenRiver station. Q. That is, Green River, Wyoming? A. Green River, Wyoming. Then the next chance we got to send out fossils was at the Uintah Agency; they were taken to the Uintah Agency and sent out from there; that was forty miles from the river, up the Duchesne. Then we didn't have another chance to send anything out until we got to Kanab. Q. From the junction of the Green river with the Grand, down to Lee's Ferry, did you encounter any boats except those of your expedition? A. No, no boats. Q. Or any other people other than those two prospectors? A. They were not down there; they were miles and miles above that; there was nobody in the neighborhood of Cataract canyon. Q. I understood you to say -- I may be wrong about it -- that there were to prospectors down there with your supplies. A. Oh, that was below, that was at the Crossing of the Fathers |
