A One, the North Americans of Yesterday, is a resume of the life of the North American Indians from Mexico to the Eski-mos. Another one was Breaking the Wilderness, which gives the opening up of the region west of the Missouri river. Another one was Romance of the Colorado River, which is a history of the Colorado river. Another one was A Canyon Voyage, which you have there. Another one was Freeman in 1849, which was a history of Freeman's expeditions in the west, mainly. Another one was Life of George Armstrong Custer. Q Directing your attention particularly to those books which deal with the Colorado river, I would like to know just what was the extent of your research with reference to the historical matters which are contained in those books. A I did a great deal of research for years, especially for the North Americans of Yesterday, and for Breaking of the Wilder-ness, and the Romance of the Colorado River; I had to; there wasn't very much written about the Colorado river before that.
