Typ. Lep. Het. pt. iii. p. 2, pl. xliii. fig. 4^(1879). Several specimens in Pryer's collection, including two examples which were separated from the rest and labelled "No. 237. Datanoides ? sp." Yokohama (Jonas and Pryer). 264. DATANOIDES APPROXIMANS, sp. n. (Plate XXXII. fig. 4.) 8 . Primaries chocolate-brown, with purplish reflections on basal patch and outer margin ; central fascia dull brown, bounded on each side by a yellowish line ; discal spot black. Fringes chequered. Secondaries fuscous. Head, thorax, abdomen, and legs brown, tarsi whitish ; antennae pectinated nearly to apex. Under surface fuscous, outer border of all the wings brownish, inclining to chestnut at apex of primaries. 2 . Similar to the rf, but paler. Expanse, rf 27 millim., $ 34-40 millim. |
