Just below our camp was a gravel bar and swift water running towards the left shore; on the opposite side there was a little stream of water meandering through a mud flat. This mud flat was wide and very shallow; just above the mud flat the water was very shallow to the termination of this line of bluffs on the right- hand side of the river. Here we took our boats, tied to a large cottonwood tree while we made a return trip on foot to Greenriver. Q Never mind about the trip to Greenriver. Mr. Hoyt testified in Washington -- said this boat drew twelve to fifteen inches. Mr. Blake says it draws when loaded, eight to nine.
