Show Blake- D 894 At this large flood at the foot of Honaker trail there were sand waves which we estimated fully ten feet high, and which stopped us from proceeding, which was one reason for stopping our progress for a day. Q Was your party re- supplied with food at any place between Bluff and Lee's Ferry? A Yes sir. Q Whereabouts? A We were met by pack train at Clay Hill crossing, I believe. Q On the San Juan? A At or near, yes; were supposed to have been met at Piute creek, but on account of bad trails the packer had to leave his packs near Nokai canyon, and Mr. Loper and Geologist Miser were compelled to drag the boat- one boat, upstream to the cache of food, or near where the food had been cached, and transport it by boat to the mouth of Piute. Then at the mouth of the San Juan river there was a cache of food, I believe had been left there by Mr. Tom Wimmer. And we received additional food while at the mouth of the San Juan from the boats brought down by Mr. Kolb, or the Kolb brothers; I believe they both came. Q That was that trip he was talking about this morning in the testimony? A Yes sir. Q Did you get any more food between there and Lee's Ferry? 2864 |
