Show Kolb- D 846 they just went up to look at it while we went down and took on a load of supplies. That is what I have in my notes. Q Where did you get that load of supplies? A Mr. Wimmer freighted it in by wagon, over these rough roads to Hall's Crossing; that is at the mouth of Hall creek, I judge, or very close to it. Q Did you take some of these supplies up the river? A We unloaded Mr. Chenoewith's surplus and loaded up with fifteen hundred pounds of supplies for Trimble, another engineer connected with the survey further down,-- connected with the San Juan survey. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q Where was that note written? You say Wimmer came up from Hall's Crossing and met you. Where were you when he met you? A Just a very short distance above the point where as reached the river. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q There aren't mile posts there; there is nothing by which we can identify it; I wonder if you could give it approximately? A I would say he was a mile above his camp, very short distance above the camp. We stopped and had a long talk. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q From there he went on up with LaRue? A He had a little joy- ride up to the foot of the rapid. 2816 |
