Q Now, as I recall your testimony, without going over it in detail, you stated that there was one occasion when your party in going down the San Juan made a portage, and that was a portage at a rapid, located about eleven miles above the mouth of the San Juan? Q Then you testified that there was one other place where you made a partial portage, that is, took out a part of the supplies and carried them, but left a part of the supplies in the boat, and the boat went on on the river? A Yes sir. Q Those are the two instances of portage of which you have any knowledge? A Yes sir, any recollection. Q Now you spoke of an incident when you were approaching the mouth of the San Juan, as I recall it, when Mr. Loper made a trip upstream to a cache , a supply cache, and he brought some supplies down the San Juan to you? A Yes sir. Q At about what time was that trip of Mr. Loper's made? A I should think towards the latter part of August; I am not at all certain. Q And where were you when Mr. Loper started on his journey upstream 2915 |
