Show Blake- D 908 our propeller very badly, in the deepest water we could find, and that is a gravel bottom area, which apparently did not shin a great deal, except with the carrying away of additional land on either bank of the river. On above there there was some sandbars, too, opposite the old Sawyer place where the river has changed its channel and out through a former island; now apparently there is no island except in high water. At this place it was narrow gravel bottom, and swift, and except right against the east shore, there wouldn't have been water enough for our boats. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q In what year was this? A That is opposite the old Sawyer cattle place. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q In what year wouldn't there have been water enough for your boat? A At what time of the year? Q You say, " There wouldn't have been water enough for my boat." In what year do you mean? A I believe I said excepting close to shore, there wasn't water enough, if we had attempted to make the run, except close to shore we would have found there was not water enough. Q In what year? A 1928, last year. 2878 |
