Show Kolb- D 842 things; it was ten years apart; sometimes we would remember the channel was on another side; we would stick to it; sometimes we would know it was in a different place; it was just incidental, we didn't pay any attention to it. Q Did you put the out- board motor on again? A We tried it out, and it didn't work successfully; it was different water, and we know that; didn't care to have it on again. Q Do you mean there was something wrong with the mechanical part of the engine, or did it have to do with the operation of the boats? A A little of both; it didn't work as efficiently,-- wouldn't always start easily; on account of the difficulty of starting, we got disgusted with it and took it off and put it under the deck; we carried it all the way through the canyon, through Glen canyon. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q I do not think you have stated yet, -- what was the weight of supplies, and so on, that this boat on this second trip carried? A We estimated the boat would weigh eight hundred or nine hundred pounds. Q The large boats, that is? A Yes sir. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q You mean loaded, or light? 2812 |
