Q Do you know where it is with reference to the Little Dolores river? A I would say it was above. There were lots of places like that in these places where it was quieter. We were making time, we were traveling fast; we had our backs to it; we wouldn't see them before we would pass them. Q Go ahead, just tell about the trip. A We stopped at Little Dolores river, stopped at a ranch close to that place and camped there. Nearly all of these riffles I speak of were at a very sharp bend; we would find that time after time we had difficulty in making the run through swift water and then turning and avoiding the shore; the current had a tendency to throw us up against the rocks.
