Show Kolb- D 863 THE SPECIAL MASTER: How far is Cisco above? MR. HOYT: Between fifty and sixty miles above. A When we got down in the section of the Dolores river, there are canyon walls quite similar to Stillwater canyon, and the water didn't have these riffles, weren't as many of these riffles from that section on down as there was for a few miles above, but there were some. There was more of a mixture of sandbars and riffles, but the descent in the river, as I remember it, was not as great. That is what I would say from memory. I never saw any survey maps of it. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q From the Dolores river into Moab, just tell about the running of the canoe through there. A I think we made that run is a day and a half. I didn't keep any notes of that. When we got out of the rapids we were neglectful of our notes; they didn't interest us greatly; we would make a picture or two of the canyon walls; we were trying to make time, to get down to the next place where we knew we would have difficulty BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q So your notes only snow where you had trouble, more or less? A Yes sir. I didn't keep any notes of that run. Q Didn't make notes where there was smooth going? 2833 |
