Show Kolb- D 811 A Yes sir. MR. BLACKMAR: In connection with the dates just given I call your Honor's attention to sheet 41 of Exhibit 94, being the stream flow record, also page 83 of Exhibit 88. THE SPECIAL MASTER: What is that exhibit? BY MR. BLACKMAR: Stream flow characteristics of the base ganging stations. MR. FARNSWORTH: Page 83 of Exhibit 88? MR. BLACKMAR: That is right. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Mr. Kolb, these rapids which you have spoken of in Glen canyon, would it be possible to take a boat upstream against those rapids? A I do not think so. MR. FARNSWORTH: You answered before I could object. Has this witness shown any competency to testify to that? I don't want to make a captious objection. THE SPECIAL MASTER: I think residence at the canyon since 1801 -- the Grand Canyon, I mean, necessary familiarity with the rapids there -- or the water -- MR. FARNSWORTH: That is a great many miles from the river -- several miles from the river then he is in Grand Canyon. THE SPECIAL MASTER: From the rim down to the water there, I know the conditions there well enough to believe a man that has been in Grand Canyon twenty- eight years must be very 2781 |
