A The next I remember as a special occasion, aside from rowing the boat across the river once in a while, was through the canyon above Clay Hill crossing; I believe that is the next place of any extent. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q What canyon is that? A Clay Hill crossing. MR. FARNSWORTH: Does that appear on the map? THE SPECIAL MASTER: There is a Clay gulch there; I suppose it is the same thing. MR. HOYT: Clay Hill crossing is mile 57. THE SPECIAL MASTER: Evidently the same place, marked as Clay gulch. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q You took the boat from Clay Hill gulch down? A No. Q Through the canyon to Clay Hill? A To Clay Hill. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q What kind of water did you find there? A It was not flood water, as I remember, unless just a small rise, but small sand waves, not of any consequence; and at this point is where our boats were loaded so heavily, had there been large sand waves we couldn't have negotiated the 2855 |
