Show Kolb- D 813 BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Who was in charge of the party? A Mr. Chenoewith was the engineer in charge; I don't know the initials; I have it in my complete notes; I have my notes here. Q To refresh your recollection was it W. B? A William Chenoewith, yes sir. Q How many other men did you have on that party? A There were then men altogether, including my brother and an assistant of his who traveled with the party for the purpose of making pictures; they bad that privilege, but they were not included in the personnal of the party. There were eight men that were directly connected, officially connected with the party. Q Have you got their names there? A The members of the party as I have marked them, William R. Chenoewith, topographic engineer; Sidney Page, geologist; E. C. LaRue, hydraulic engineer; Lee Lint, rod man; John Clogston, commissary cook; Harry Tasker, rod man; E. L. Kolb, myself, boatman, with Tasker and Lint as assistants in quiet water; Emory C. Kolb, photographer. BY THE SPECIALMASTER: Q You were a member of the party? A I was the boatman in charge to handle the boats through the rapids; that is what I was principally there for. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q In whose service were you? 2783 |
