Show Kolb- D 850 BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q How much supplies did you bring down from Hall's Crossing to Mr. Trimble? A On the two boats we carried fifteen hundred pounds of supplies. Q Have any difficulty in bringing those? A No; I had the bigger part of them, I remember, and we had two big boxes which we didn't unpack; we put those on top of the decks of the boat, and tied them on; they made the boats top- heavy. I remember that we talked quite a while as to whether it was advisable -- THE SPECIAL MASTER; Well, never mind about that. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q In that trip down to the San Juan dis you encounter any sandbars? A Yes, there were sandbars all the time; we avoided them whenever we could. Q Did the boats get stuck on any of them? A For a short time, yes; we would run on to sandbars, then we would push them off. We had an agreement between ourselves that Mr. Page was to steer. MR. FARNSWORTH: We object to this agreement.
